Having read Betty Smiths A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN many years ago (still one of my favorites) I was looking forward to reading this one.  I was also delighted I won it in a Goodreads giveaway.  I usually read on my Kindle but it was great holding a book for a change.

A lovely story, set in the 1920s when women didnt have the freedom they do these days.  They had to grow up, marry, please their husband, have children and keep the house.  But Margy was always optimistic despite growing up in a household with a bitter mother and a father who preferred not being home.  But what most young women did back then, they married to escape the house they were in, finding things were not that much better.

Great story of how far we have come since those times in history.  #fourstars #Goodreadsgiveaway
