Comment Verification...and Spam

I hate it.....and up until now I refused to use it....BUT...I am getting too much spam here on my blog...I am thrilled people read it and double thrilled when they leave comments....and to stop the ANONYMOUS people, I have automatically sent their comments to spam.....but it is way too much and therefore...........


I am engaging in the "comment verification" part of my blog.....I may remove it again, but until all this spam stops.....it will be on....Sorry to those who also hate it.....I am very grateful for all the comments and look forward to them.....and love to respond to comments.....but this has gotten out of hand.....

So, has anyone else had this problem?  Because there are some blogs I comment on that do not have this verification either......I will continue to comment even if you have verification on it....but....I still hate it....but hate spam more........and I wouldnt mind but the comments that are left are disgusting.....and uncalled for.....So, how do you handle spam?

    For the first couple of years I had my blog it was no problem, but then I started to get a lot of spam and had to start the verification process.

    I know what you mean Bubbe. I don't like it either and had it off for just 2 days, started getting spammy weird stuff, Anon comments and promos for businesses....now it's back on again ! UGH !

    @Nonna...promos are one thing, but some of what I got in Spam was porn....but now that verification is on, so far so good...
