 This book takes place in Wisconsin during 1983 but flashes back to 1916.  We follow Joe who was in a psychiatric hospital, placed there by his father because he was having terrible dreams.  But we soon find out that the dreams in actuality really did happen but back in 1916.  Joe is released from the hospital by his grandmother, Pearl who was present in 1916 when an incident she witnessed has haunted her.

Joe meets Kathleen who is running away from an abuse husband and soon they are both trying to figure out the dreams he is having and just what they mean.  Loved the story and the feelings they go through and also the surprises as each layer is peeled back from the dreams.
