Working Fire by Emily Bleeker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Reading this book is like blowing up a balloon. Each chapter gives you a little more air and the more you read the more you wonder when the balloon will burst.
Ellie moves back home to Broadlands, IL to help her sister Amelia with their dad who had a stroke. Ellie works as a paramedic and one day a call comes in for her sister's house and finds both Amelia and her husband, Steve were shot. The story tends to go back and forth from five weeks previous to the shooting and the present, leaving you with the feeling that the balloon is due to explode with each chapter.
While Amelia is critical, Steve gets better and Ellie, looking for answers, comes in contact with secrets and a scenario she would have never thought was possible. Up to the end of this book you think you know what will happen...but you really don't.
