The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I put off reading this book because of the content. But with so many people rating it high, I just had to start it. Of course, I finished it in 3 days and while sad and sometimes overwhelming, it was a good read. What happened at Auschwitz was incomprehensible and so we learn the story of Gita and Lale and what they did to survive this terrible time in their lives.
Lale lived his life by the motto: "If you wake up in the morning, it is a good day" and so his story is told day by day, what he did to survive to see another day. His love for Gita who was in the same camp was insurmountable and I believe kept them going.
