Necessary Lies by Diane Chamberlain

I absolutely loved this book. Diane Chamberlain is one of my fave authors. She write with the heart and her story brought tears to my eyes. This book also brought to the top the story of sterilization done to the poor, and disabled in institutions during that era.

Ivy Hart is only a child who has the job of taking care of her grandmother and sister and her sister's child. Jane Forrester takes a job as social worker and finds herself involved in this family. When she finds out Ivy's sister was sterilized without her knowledge and they want to do the same to Ivy, she breaks all the rules to protect her. Get involved with this family and you will find yourself trying to protect them - even if you have to break the rules.
