Sugar by Deirdre Riordan Hall
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Sugar..sugar..sugar...or shall we call her Mercy. Not my usual genre but riveting nonetheless. The story follows Mercy, an overweight high school girl and what she puts up with in her family and school. Bullying and verbal abuse until she meets Even...who sees her for who she is, not what she looks like. An amazing friendship follows, with Sugar's self-esteem rising with it. To tell anymore of the story will give away the turn this book takes....but suffice it to say, you will not be disappointed. A must read for all ages.
