Cop Town by Karin Slaughter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Guess I am addicted to cop stories....but Karin Slaughter did not write the usual one. This story centered around the women on the police force and how they prove themselves capable of doing such a demanding job along with the job of being a female cop in a predominantly male world.
And of course, the story shows this when Kate Murphy's first day on the job in the Atlanta PD turns into one where she is not sure she will return the next day. Only when she hooks up with Maggie Lawson to find the person responsible for killing other cops, does she show her ability and knowledge of what a cop is capable of. Between their personal problems (both had family who did not want them to become cops) and those on the job, these ladies were able to solve the crimes (with a few surprises in between) and become strong women in the eyes of their fellow cops.
