Book Review - The Goldfinch

The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt

The story warrants reading but found the book itself dragged out. Theo had a complicated life that ranged from boyhood to manhood. Through love, despair,drugs,violence,stealing etc. a hurt boy who lost so much and could not find his way. I feel the loss of his mother at such a young age drove him to lose himself in a spiraling chain of events where even he could not find his way out of. The despair in Theo's life never got fixed almost to the point of suicide.

I felt this book was depressing at times, although I continued to read it only to find out what happen to the painting he took from the museum....The Goldfinch.
